Name of Race: Laser Sail Regatta (Spring and Summer)

  • Spring-5/26/2008 through 7/7/2008, every Monday evening at 1800 (sharp).
  • 7/14/2008 through 8/25/2008, every Monday evening at 1800 (sharp).

Location of Race: Lake Tahoe, CA, off the Coast Guard Launching Ramp at the North end of the Lake

Registration will be at the TYC clubhouse during regular business hours. Registration will be accepted up to one hour before the warning signal. Registration forms, or online registration, can also be obtained over the Internet here.

Rules:

The Laser Sail Regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association when they apply, the rules of the Laser Class, except to the extent that these rules are changed by the Tahoe Yacht Club 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions.

Participants must indicate their intention to sail either “A” Class (experienced sailor) or “B” Class (novice sailor), prior to the beginning of each Monday night regatta. Participants will be required to sail in their elected class for the entire series (Spring or Summer).

All participants will be required to have sail numbers visible on their sail. These sail numbers must be in the proper place and of a proper size as required by the Class. All participants are required to have read and understand the TYC 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. The Sailing instructions can be found at the TYC Clubhouse or by clicking here.

Race committee will post any changes to Sailing Instructions on the official race notice board at the TYC Clubhouse one hour prior to the warning signal.

The scoring for each series, Spring and Summer, will be done using the low point system of Appendix A of the RRS. There will be at least 14 races scheduled for the Spring series and 14 for the Summer series. A minimum of 5 races will be required for a series. As per Rule A2.1, there will be one throw out race for every five that are run by the Race Committee. There will be an overall scoring class as well, made up of the combined points for spring and summer series.

The Women's Skipper Sail Regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association when they apply, the rule of each class concerned, except to the extent that these rules are changed by the Tahoe Yacht Club 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. All participants are required to have read and understand the TYC 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions can be found at the TYC Clubhouse or by clicking here.

All boats shall start together unless otherwise indicated by Race Committee.

Each boat must have a female skipper at the helm at all times while racing.

The Short Handed Sail Regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association when they apply, the rule of each class concerned, except to the extent that these rules are changed by the Tahoe Yacht Club 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. All participants are required to have read and understand the TYC 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions can be found at the TYC Clubhouse or by clicking here.

Race committee will post any changes to Sailing Instructions on the official race notice board at the TYC Clubhouse one hour prior to the warning signal.

All boats will start together unless otherwise designated by race committee.

Each boat is limited to a maximum of one skipper and one crew member.

The scoring for the regatta will be done using the low point system of Appendix A of the RRS. There will be three races scheduled for the regatta. A minimum of one race is required for a regatta. Depending on entries, there may be two scoring classes, single handed and double handed. All races will count toward the final regatta score.

Rules:

The Kip Lar Rieu Laser Sail Regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association when they apply, the rules of the Laser Class, except to the extent that these rules are changed by the Tahoe Yacht Club 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. The Laser Sail Regatta is designated Category “B.”

Participants must indicate their intention to sail either “A” Class (experienced sailor) or “B” Class (novice or junior sailor), prior to the beginning of the regatta. Participants will be required to sail in their elected class for the entire event.

All participants will be required to have sail numbers visible on their sail. These sail numbers must be in the proper place and of a proper size as required by the Class. All participants are required to have read and understand the TYC 2005-2008 Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions can be found at the TYC Clubhouse or by clicking here.

Race committee will post any changes to Sailing Instructions on the official race notice board at the campsite near the launch ramp facility one hour prior to the warning signal.

The scoring for the regatta will be done using the low point system of Appendix A of the RRS. There will be at least five races scheduled with a minimum of 2 races required for a regatta. As per Rule A2.1, there will be one throw out race for every five that are run by the Race Committee if there are at least five races.
