NOTICE OF RACE

1.     RULES:

This regatta will be governed by the 'rules' as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 (RRS); The rules of Internationals Melges 24 Class Association, the 2009 Tahoe Yacht Club Sailing Instructions and the 2009 Trans Tahoe Sailing instructions.

2.     ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 The regatta is open to all members of the Melges 24 Class.

2.2  Eligible boats may be entered by completing the attached Entry Form and returning it with the entry fee to The Tahoe Yacht Club, attention TYC Sailing.

2.3  The entry fee is as follows:

If racing in Trans Tahoe (Saturday) only = $95 if received by June 27, 2009; $120 if received between June 28 and July 9, 2009; $140 day of event.

If racing in Trans Tahoe + (for Melges 24 only and including races on Friday) = $125 if received by June 27, 2009; $150 if received between June 28 and July 9, 2009; $170 day of event.

Note: There is a $5 discount for U.S. Sailing members in good standing.

3.     SCHEDULE OF RACES

4.     SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing instructions will be available after July 1, 2009, at the Tahoe Yacht Club website, www.tahoeyc.com or at the TYC clubhouse from Friday July 10

5.     WEIGH-IN

Crews will be on honor system regarding maximum crew weight.

6.     RACING AREA AND COURSES

The racing area will be in the vicinity of the Dollar Point on the North shore of Lake Tahoe. The courses will be described in the sailing instructions.

7.     COMMUNICATIONS

The Race Committee may use VHF channel 65 to communicate information about course selection, time to start, the class position relative to the starting time, and the sail numbers of boats that are OCS. Neither failure of the Race Committee to communicate the sail numbers of recalled boats in a timely manner, nor failure of a recalled boat to receive or hear transmitted information, will be grounds for redress.

8.     SCORING

The Low Point Scoring System, RRS A4, will apply. Three (3) races are scheduled. Race committee may opt for a 3rd race on Friday for a total of four. All races will count toward the final score. Trans Tahoe race will count as 2 races so if there are 2 races Friday then they will count for half the total and Trans Tahoe will count for half the total

9.     Launching and Mooring

The TYC will be able to accommodate overnight mooring Friday and Saturday nights at different locations throughout the racing area. Please indicate your needs on your entry form. Trailer launching will be available at the PUD Launch Ramp near the Coast Guard station near Tahoe City. Trailer storage will be available near the boat ramp.

10.  PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the top three boats in the regatta. Prizes for Trans Tahoe only will be awarded separately. The trophy presentation will be held at the TYC on Sunday July 12th . See Trans Tahoe sail instructions/notice of race for more information
