13th Annual North Tahoe Rowing Regatta
Saturday, June 13th, 2015
Join us at Lake Tahoe for 13th North Tahoe Rowing Regatta sponsored by the Tahoe Yacht Club. The regatta offers two courses: a more protected, 3.75nm course, and an 8.75nm course. Both flat water and open water shells are welcome on the short course, but the more exposed long course is restricted to open water shells. All shells on both courses must have a bailer or bailing device and a PFD; a compass or GPS is also strongly advised for every shell.
We are now officially calling our 2015 regatta "The Last Hurrah", as this will be the final year for the three race directors, Shirwin, Sue and Sunny. We hope all of you will put the date, June 13, on your calendars and come celebrate it with us! Let’s make memories!
The Crown Motel, 8200 North Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach, is the location of race headquarters and the race start is just offshore from their beach. There is room at the beach for entrants to stage their boats the day before, and after the race. The Crown offers rowers a discount on rooms if you reserve for three nights or longer; just mention the rowing regatta when you call. For more information and reservations please call (800) 645-2260.
The Tahoe Yacht Club will host a pre-regatta dinner on Friday evening, June 12. More details will follow. Online registration will be ready in April 2015. Check back here.

The Tahoe event is truly iconic and remarkable to me. The visuals, the altitude, the "overhead" to get there, the partnership with Tahoe Yacht Club, the Crown Motel, the history, the people, the dinner and poolside lunch are all just amazing.
And, oh, yeah, the brownies...
I am truly grateful for all of the anticipation that I have enjoyed leading up to the Tahoe events, for all of the inspiration that the events have provided before/during/after the Regattas, for the unforgettable memories/visions of boats on the beach, gently lapping waves, wind-driven seas, crystal water, 1,500' depths midway between Kings Beach and Dollar Point, snow-covered mountains, amazing vistas, and on and on and on.
Tahoe has been the highlight for my modest, knockabout rowing career.
I love you folks for allowing and helping all of us to experience that, and I send the three of you abiding, heart-felt thanks for that.”
“Hello planners of the past 12 Tahoe Regatta:
I am giving thanks to you all today, Thanksgiving Day for helping to introduce me so many years ago to one of the most spectacular places to row... though my attendance has waned over the past few years (not because of any change in my outlook of this wonderful spot) but well, life and commitments get in the way as you all know within your own situations...thanks and hope someone may pick up the baton to continue the tradition...”Rosalie Frankel
